Somethhing old something new

Everybody that knows me knows that I like taking old stuff and making something new out of it. I’ve done it all my life, and I probably got it from my father, who made a cabinet for my stuff out of old orange crates and covered the front with a cloth when I was very young in the 40’s. The old divided crates were free at the grocery store and they stacked and made a great cabinet for me. My dad was a carpenter and when I was older he made me a beautiful desk to use that was just right for me. Everything he made was beautiful, and I still have something he made for me in every room of my house. He knew just what I needed to meet the need I had, and he knew just how to make it right.

My dad was very creative and could see how things could be changed or made new, and knew how to do it. I guess that made me see things differently also. I am always seeing how I can use things in a different way than they were intended in the first place.

As I think about that it reminds me of how God has worked in my life over the years. The Bible tells me He created me for a purpose and gave me everything I would need to fulfill that purpose. But it could only be fulfilled if I would let Him guide me. For years I was living my life without a thought about what God wanted for me. It wasn’t until I really committed my life to Him and asked Him to not only be my Savior, but also my Lord, that things began to work out.

For years I had many abilities, but also insecurities about how to use them. God saw my possibilities and directed me to the right path to take. I have always been an artist and painted pictures for many years but never did much more with it. When we had no money for gifts during the 80’s I started painting sweatshirts as gifts to family and friends, and God turned that into a national design business that I did for a few years that got us through the tough times we were having. He used what gifts I had and fulfilled a need we had and gave me confidence to do it.

God also gave me opportunities to speak to groups in several states for many years about what He had done in my life and what He was doing currently. It was a great encouragement to others to realize that God had something special for each one of us and He could show us how to use it. God knows exactly what will work for each one of us and He is just waiting for us to ask Him. And now, instead of driving constantly to speaking engagements, He has given me the opportunity of writing and reaching people and staying in one place. He continually uses the gifts He has given me in different ways that make it easier on me. I can trust Him that He always has the best plan for my life and there’s no age limit to serving Him.

Thinking back on those events really makes me realize that God really is my Father, He created me in the womb and knows the plans that He has for me. He knows me better than anyone else can, He loves me more than anyone can, and He only wants the best for my life. When I gave Him my whole life He took a real wreck and made something beautiful out of it. I am still a work in progress for God, but as I read and study the Bible and discover the path He has for me and follow it, it makes my life into something beautiful, regardless of what is going on in the world. I am content to be where I am and I know that my loving Father will watch over me and lead me in the right direction. He will do the same for every one of us when we give Him permission to take control of our life. It’s up to us to ask Him. And if you have never prayed to receive Him as Savior, pray, Dear God, I know I am a sinner, and I believe Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for my sin to reconcile me to you. Please, come into my heart and be my Savior and my Lord, and guide me to live the life you prepared me for.

John 1:12,13 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

If you prayed that prayer, God is the Father who will guide you to be the best person you can be, because He loves you and wants what is best for you.
