First of all, I want to establish the fact that Donald Trump is our President and the Republican Party has complete control of our federal government at the present time.
With that in mind, I want to know what more President Trump has to do to prove to our Wyoming Republican representation in Washington, D.C., along with all of the Republican colleagues, that the President has put the United States, North and South Korea, Japan, Guam and others in grave danger?
Yes, Kim Jong Un is a serious concern, but our President’s words and actions are obviously escalating the possibility of war on both sides. To threaten the destruction of North Korea at the United Nations was the last straw for me and, in my opinion, should be for our elected leaders. His words have meaning to those of us who listen. Words do matter.
It is troubling to me that so much of our President’s behavior is simply accepted or overlooked by many. When an adult or child in our society threatens harm to others, lies, bullies, name calls, demonstrates sexual misbehavior or shows evidence of racism and prejudice, there are serious consequences. It is obvious to me now that it is accepted behavior in the United States of America because the political party in control is allowing it to happen over and over, to the point that another war is a strong possibility.
I’m asking our senators and representatives to do something, other than stand behind Mitch McConnell on camera or repeat party talking points. Show leadership and, most of all, statesmanship. Put a stop to the President’s irrational behavior before it is too late.
Do the right thing – “Country before party.”
