TORRINGTON – A Torrington teen was hospitalized last week following an apparent early-morning shooting.
Torrington Police Chief Tim Hurd said officers were called to Community Hospital at about 3 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, to respond to a report of a male shooting victim. Officers were told the shooting occurred at a home in the 100 block of Rio Vista Road, Hurd said.
“We were informed where the shooting occurred,” he said. “We secured the house and the vehicle used to transport the victim to the hospital. Search warrants were issued for both.”
According to a press release issued Wednesday by Hurd, the victim and the shooter were known to each other and the shooting “was not a random act.”
The alleged shooter was identified as Jaedan Redder, 18, of Torrington. Officials say Redder shot Austin Peters, 19, once in Peters’ home.
Peters is expected to recover, according to the release.
A warrant has been issued for Redder on a charge of aggravated battery. Officials are currently searching for Redder to serve the warrant, the release said.
Investigators from the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation assisted with the investigation Torrington Police.
