YODER – The Western National Rangeland Evaluation CDE is an event for FFA members to show off their knowledge in rangeland as they compete against one another. This contest includes the top state teams from the states of Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, and Utah. In this contest, members are tested on many different factors involved in rangeland evaluation, such as plant identification, grazing and habitat improvement, sage brush and sage grouse, and countless more. This year, the contest took place on Nov. 6 in Caldwell, Idaho.
Each team participating brought a team of four. One team that went to compete was the Southeast FFA Chapter. The team consisted of Jared Clapper, Anthony Ramirez, Brady Tosh, and Layne Johnson. Enduring a long road trip and rigorously practicing for weeks for this contest, the team was able to hold their own as they earned fourth place overall and placing as a gold team. Jared Clapper was able to take 10th place individual overall. Both he and Anthony Ramirez were gold members, with Brady Tosh earning silver and Layne Johnson earning bronze. The team performed very well this year. Congratulations to the Southeast FFA Range Judging team.
