Sandra Sue “Gogie” Watson Schultz

TORRINGTON – Sandra Sue “Gogie” Watson Schultz, 79, of Torrington, died peacefully Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Torrington Hospital surrounded by her beloved family. A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 12, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Torrington Senior Center. Darrell Dennis will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Torrington Senior Center, the hearts of many people at the Senior Center were very dear to her, and they played a big role in her being able to remain in her home through the course of her illness. Sandy asked that anyone that wanted to, share a memory they had of her, either oral or written.

Sandy was born to Garland and Anna (Criss) Schultz on May 31, 1940, in Mitchell, Neb. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1958. She worked at Bosking/Blair Dug store during her high school years and was also a lifeguard and diving instructor at the Mitchell Swimming Pool.

She was married to Ronald Watson in 1958, until his death in 1971. They had two children, Ronda and Randy.

She moved to Torrington in 1973, where she resided the remainder of her life. She served in the Wyoming National Guard there from 1974-1977.

She bought houses and rented them to make her living. Prior to that, she owned and operated two children’s stores. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She enjoyed doing woodwork and crafts and handmade the gifts she gave. She was an avid bowler. She had a beautiful voice and she sang solos for many events. She studied music with Dorothy Bronson when she was younger for 12 years. 

Sandra became a foster parent in 2000, where she had a number of children pass through her door. She loved helping others.

Sandy is survived by her two children, Ronda Hager (Eric) of Castle Rock, Colo. and Randy Watson (Wendy) of Cheyenne; her grandchildren, Ashley Connor (Shane) of Parker, Colo., Aaron Hager (Sabrina) of Parker, Colo., and Amber Watson of Castle Rock, Colo.; her great-grandchildren, Kaden Kinsey, Grace Hager, Shaley Connor, Keefer Connor of Parker, Colo., and Shiloh Gross of Castle Rock, Colo. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Werger of Torrington and her lifetime friend Ruth Kephart of Mitchell. As well as, nieces and nephews, and many very dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Anna Schultz; husbands, Ron Watson and Vernon Boden; brothers, Donald Schultz, Jerry Schultz and Richard Schultz; nephew Jay Summerville; and sister-in-laws, Kathy Weinmeister, Audrey Schultz and Phyllis Schultz; great nephews Andy Tompson and Jake Summerville. Also, her beloved blind cat, Middi, that gave her much comfort and companionship in her later years.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends and the lives of those she had touched. She leaves a legacy of a giving and loving spirit, a gentle heart, a deep love for the Lord, and “real hugs.”
