TORRINGTON – Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial for Sadie Marquez, 91, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019, at Saint Rose Catholic Church with Father Ray Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Saint Rose Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home and the casket will be open at the rosary.

Sadie was born May 19, 1928, in Veteran, the daughter of Florencio and Epemenia (Ojeda) Delgado. She attended school in Veteran and later received her GED from Eastern Wyoming College. In 1950 she married Mike Marquez. Her love of cooking brought her to the Valley Hi Restaurant where she cooked for 16 years till the death of the owner. She also cooked privately for families in the area. She also worked for Vandel Drug for 14 years.

Sadie enjoyed cooking, embroidery, sewing and flowers. She was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge, the Spanish Speaking Woman’s Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Sadie is survived by three daughters: Esther Compton of Denver, Colo., Mona (Art) Ramos of Torrington and Andrea Marquez of Denver; two sons: Thomas (Elizabeth) Marquez of LaGuna Niguel, Calif., and Dave “Rico” Marquez of Ft. Collins, Colo.; three brothers: Joe Delgado of Torrington, Edward (Barbara) Delgado of San Diego, Calif., and Tony (Ramona) Delgado of Denver; three sisters: Isabel (Raymond) Barajas of Denver, Rosemary (Alfred) Zamora of Westminster, Colo., and Delores Ibarra of Hartville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Mike; son Michael Marquez; sisters Frances Zamora and Lupe Juarez; and a brother John Delgado.
