TORRINGTON – Ronald Dean Martin, 79, passed away Dec. 3, 2019, at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne. 

He was born Aug. 20, 1940 in Lincoln, Neb., to Clifford and Phyllis (Stenson) Martin.  Ron served in the U.S. Navy as a medic from 1957-1962, after which he transferred to the Navy Reserve for two years. He married Janice G. Hatfield on Jan. 5, 1963.  After moving to Torrington in 1984, Ron owned and operated a Kinetic Water Service franchise for over 30 years.

Ron is survived by his wife Jan; son TJ (Pam) Martin; daughter Rhonda (Daniel) Lampen; brothers DeVon (Karen) Stuart, Robert Martin, and Darrell (Barb) Martin; sisters-in-law Joyce Bromley and Sally (Jim) Domeier; six grandchildren; Joshua and Joseph Votruba, Ross and Garrett Martin and Alec and Daniella Lampen; and eight great-grandchildren.  

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Phyllis Martin; his grandparents, Charles and Bealuh Stenson; father-in-law Cecil Hatfield; mother-in-law Ruth Garrison; and brothers-in-law Gary and David Hatfield.  

His greatest loves were his family, softball and golf. His younger years were spent pitching AAA fast pitch softball. He also coached Little League and Legion baseball, taking pride in bringing out confidence in the kids he mentored. Later in life he found a passion for golf, which he enjoyed throughout the remainder of his life.  

He was an active member of the Elks Lodge, the American Legion and the Moose Lodge, where he served in recent years as their Activities Director.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Torrington, by Concelebrants, the Rev. Ray Moss and the Rev. Andrew Duncan.
