TORRINGTON – Memorial graveside services for Roland Leroy Marlatt, 94, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 at the Valley View Cemetery with Reverend Bruce McBurney officiating. Roland died Jan. 18, 2023 at Goshen Healthcare Community and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to the Disabled American Veterans. Roland was born May 15, 1928 in Yoder, the son of Ray and Birdie (Lacey) Marlatt. He grew up and attended school in Hawk Springs, graduating there in 1947. He attended college in Greeley, Colorado where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He served one year in the US Navy. 

He married Pauline Brown on Nov. 1, 1947 in Hawk Springs. He taught school in Iowa Center, Hawk Springs, Lance Creek, Glendo and Chino, California. He then worked as an accountant in Corona, California, for the Town of California City, for the Evans Company in New Freedom, Pennsylvania, and in New York. He then worked for AFCO in Montclair, California as an account manager. After his retirement he moved back to Torrington.

Roland is survived by his son Paul Thomas (Pat) Marlatt of Ellabell, Georgia; his daughter Roline (Wayne) Pickens; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Pauline; and three sisters Joyce Marlatt, Norma Teeters, and Phyllis Blunt.
