TORRINGTON – The Eastern Wyoming College rodeo team hosted the Black Jeans and Gold Buckle Gala on Nov. 18 at the Rendezvous Center at the Goshen County Fairgrounds. According to EWC Rodeo Coach Whit Peterson, turnout for the gala was excellent, and overall, the event was a “great success.”
“Our first Black Jeans and Gold Buckles Gala was a great success,” Peterson said. “It was more than I could have imagined.”
Many members of the community came to the gala to support the EWC Lancer rodeo team. The gala event included a cocktail hour, dinner, live auction, silent auction and live music by the Southern Fryed band. The dinner was catered by Redz Bar and Grill and the cash bar was provided by 307 Sports Bar and Grill.
“The fundraiser (was) a way to help cover the cost the team members have to pay out of their own pockets to compete,” Peterson explained. “It will also go toward covering the cost of feed and care of the livestock we practice on every day.”
The gala raised over $55,000 for the Lancer rodeo team.
“I would like to thank everyone who helped the rodeo team with this event,” Peterson said.
