TORRINGTON – Grave side services for Robert Lynn Schmick, 48, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Valley View Cemetery in Torrington with the Rev. Jeff Wayland officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Wyoming Army National Guard. 

Robert passed away in Reno, Nev., on Oct. 28, 2017. The Colyer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert was born April 18, 1969, in Laramie, the son of Kenneth and Judy Schmick. The family later moved to the bay area of California, where he attended school through the second grade. They moved to northern Idaho where he enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, dirt biking and fishing in the mountains. 

He graduated from Borah High School in Boise, Idaho, in 1987. He attended Pacific Christian College in California before joining the Army, where he was a chief aircraft maintenance officer and flew unmanned aircraft. He then moved back to Boise for a short time before relocating to Reno, where he completed his degree at the University of Nevada Reno.

He worked IT for the State of Nevada Safety department for many years. He was active in the Nevada search and rescue, he loved working out, running and his dog Lucky. Robert loved spending time in Boise for the Fourth of July, playing gorilla ball and spending time at the Atkinson cabin in Idaho.

Robert is survived by his mother Judy Schmick of Carson City, Nev.; his life partner Karina Vasquez of Reno; his brother Michael (Diana) McIntosh of Sutherland, Neb.; sister Dorrie (Dan) Atkinson of Boise, Idaho; two nieces; four nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Schmick, and his grandparents. 

Robert was a kind and loving person who will always be remembered.
