LINGLE – Robert Allen Abernathy, 61, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2021 at Community Hospital in Torrington. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021 at North Hills Baptist Church in Lingle with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Robert was born Aug. 31, 1960 in Longmont, Colorado to John and Dorothy (Goudie) Abernathy. He graduated from Longmont High School and then started his own ice business called Icicle Works. He sold his business then worked for City Ice Company in Denver, Colorado. He married Johanna Maureen Regan on Oct. 12, 1991 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. They moved to Lingle in 1999 and in 2005, Robert and Johanna bought Ty’s Pit Stop which they continue to run to this day.

Robert was always an outdoorsy man who loved hunting, horses and being in
the mountains.

Robert is survived by his wife, Johanna Abernathy; his son, Tyler Abernathy; brothers, Don and David (Teresa) Abernathy of Longmont, Colorado; sisters, Barb (Frank) Lovett of Longmont, Colorado and Nancy (Vern) Ealey of Loveland, Colorado; brothers-in-law, William (Mary) Regan of New Haven, Connecticut and Michael (Mary Anne) Regan of Pittsfield, Massachusetts and his faithful companion, Ace. Robert was preceded in death by both of his parents and his son, Joshua Abernathy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert’s name can be made to the Lingle Rescue Unit or the Wounded Warrior Project.
