CASPER – Torrington’s Tyler Ring, as a member of the South team, won the Wyoming Coaches Association all-star game Saturday in Casper against the North 95-90 in overtime.
The South jumped out to the early lead, holding a 20-14 advantage after the first frame. The North rallied to post 24 points in the second quarter to take a 38-35 lead into the break. The South earned two of those points back in the third quarter, outscoring the North 20-18.
In the fourth quarter, the South kept the game close. With 1.7 seconds left, Ty Larson, a future Eastern Wyoming College Lancer, was fouled behind the arc. He drained all three free throws to send the game to overtime. In the extra period, the South poured in 15 points to the North’s 10 to seal the win.
Ring was tied for second on the South in scoring, pouring in 11 points. Larson, who committed to play for the Lancers this winter, added 11 points for the South. Eric Jamerman paced the South in scoring, with 30 points.
The game Saturday was Ring’s last basketball action on the court. He is set to attend Sheridan College in the fall and play soccer.
