TORRINGTON – Funeral services for Ricky C. Anderson, 69, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Eaton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.
Ricky died at his home in Lingle on Nov. 21, 2018. Memorials may be given to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and the casket will be open briefly following the service. Ricky was born May 26, 1949, in Rock Island, Ill. He was adopted by Carlisle and Leona (Ackelson) Anderson when he was five years old. He grew up and received his early education in Illinois and later graduated high school in Davenport, Iowa. He attended college in Davenport for four years before entering the US Army, serving in Vietnam for two years.
He married Marsha on April 26, 1984 in Des Moines, Iowa, and they were later divorced.
After his discharge from the army he returned to Iowa where he worked as a carpenter in construction. In 1987 they moved to Florida where he continued in construction and his two sons were born. In 2001 they moved to Fergus Falls, Minn., and he entered a VA Care Center, where he spent four years. The family moved to Lingle in 2014.
Ricky was an accomplished painter and enjoyed crafting.
Ricky is survived by his sons Jerry Anderson and Jay (Kendra) Anderson all of Lingle; a sister Patricia Stiles of Alabama; his ex-wife Marsha Anderson of Lingle; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
