Dick Schutt

LINGLE – Richard “Dick” Shelby Schutt, 88, of Lingle, passed away Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington. He was born on July 25, 1934, in Torrington, to parents Mary (Moffott) Schutt and Fred Schutt.

Dick graduated from Torrington High School in 1954 and married Javene Keller of Lingle on April 8, 1955. They had two children, Dee “Boo” Herdt (married to Gary Herdt) and Richard Schutt, Jr.

He was employed with Shell Oil Company in 1955 as a Seismograph Operator/Troubleshooter and retired in 1972 and returned to Wyoming. He started Schutt Construction Company and later developed the North Hills Addition in Lingle.

He was an avid fisherman and in his ‘retirement,’ he started a grape vineyard in Lingle where he loved to spend hours tending to the grapevines that he grew from cuttings. His small hobby vineyard now produces 20 tons of grapes annually!

Dick was preceded in death by Father and Mother, Fred and Mary Schutt; Sister, Betty Hanson and his twin brothers, Bob and Bill Schutt.

He is survived by his wife, Javene Schutt; his children, Dee Herdt and Richard Schutt, Jr. and his brother, Jerry Fred Schutt.

Funeral Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations may be made to Sonrise Church and/or the Goshen Care Center in Torrington.
