TORRINGTON – Memorial services for Richard “Dick” Kirchhefer, 87, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Randy Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. 

Dick died Nov. 14, 2018, at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to either Davis Hospice Center or the American Lung Association. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. 

Dick was born Aug. 17, 1931, in Torrington, the son of Frederick and Mary (Welch) Kirchhefer. At the age of ten his family moved to a farm southwest of Yoder, and he received his education in Yoder, graduating from Yoder High School. He attended the University of Wyoming for a short time before returning to the family farm. 

He married Mary Hunt in Yoder on June 10, 1956. In 1974 they bought a hotel in Guernsey and operated it until 1977. He went to work for the uranium mine in Shirley Basin in 1976 and was there until 1983 when they returned to the farm in Yoder. He farmed his farm and worked for other farmers in the area until he moved to Guernsey to live with his daughter in 2017.

Dick enjoyed leatherwork, reading, playing computer games, hunting and did some rodeo when he was younger. He was a member of the Yoder Presbyterian Church and the Mountain Empire Dairymen’s Association.

Dick is survived by two sons Gary (Shelly) Kirchhefer of Torrington and Fred (Donita) Kirchhefer of Douglas; two daughters Robyn (John) Troudt of Guernsey and Kristie (Rob) Pfaff of Cheyenne; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary; one brother; a granddaughter; and a grandson.
