Reception, panel set Thursday for exhibit

CHEYENNE – A reception and panel discussion will highlight the Thursday opening of a first-of-its-kind exhibit at the Wyoming State Museum here.
“We Were, We Are: Artists from the Northern Arapaho Artists Society and the Creative Indigenous Collective” is the first exhibition of contemporary Native American art hosted at the museum. The exhibit features the work of Bruce Cook, Robert Martinez, Louis Still Smoking and more.

The opening reception is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, immediately followed by the panel discussion with the artists, led by Dr. Caskey Russell, director of American Indian Studies at the University of Wyoming.
The program is funded in part by a grant from the Wyoming Humanities. Contributing artist Martinez curated
the exhibit.
“We Were, We Are,” will be on display at the State Museum through Nov. 30. The museum is located at 2301 Central Ave. in Cheyenne.
