Program series launches season at The Rock

BAYARD, Neb. – The Nebraska State Historical Society is announcing the Sunday Afternoon at the Rock spring speaker series at Chimney Rock. These historical and cultural programs will run six consecutive Sundays from Feb. 18 through March 25.
The series season launches with Emily Hauck on Feb. 18 with Then and Now: Travel and Transportation. On Feb. 25, Loren Pospisil will talk about other Chimney Rocks with Can We Take The Elevator To The Top?
Jack Whittier will follow his ancestors’ treks in The Mormon Trail and What it Means Today on March 4. The following week, on March 11, Floyd Smith will talk about your ancestors in Introduction to Genealogy.

Lighting might not strike twice, but Emily Hauck will, with her March 18 program, titled How Geography Helps Us Understand Disasters And Epidemics. The spring series concludes on March 25t with Nancy Gillis presenting The Plains Tribes and the
Homestead Act.
Presentations begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Chimney Rock Visitor Center located fpir miles south of Bayard, or one mile south of Highway 92 on County Road 75. All presentations are free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
