TORRINGTON – The Cheyenne Post 6 baseball made the decision to skip the Wyoming AA State Legion Tournament to attend the Connie Mack World Series.

The decision will have a trickle-down effect all the way to the A Legion level.

As a result of Post 6 opting out of the state tournament, the defending A state champion Cody Cubs accepted an invitation to fill the void left by the Cheyenne team, according to an email sent out from Wyoming’s State Baseball Chairman Cody Beers.

Cody will be the fourth seed from the AA East Conference and will not attend the A tournament in Douglas.

That will leave three teams in the A West Conference – Green River, Powell and Riverton – and five in the A East Conference – Cheyenne, Douglas, Gillette, Torrington and Wheatland.

The five teams from the East will battle for the top four seeds from the conference, but the fifth team from the East will still head to the state tournament as the fourth seed from the West Conference.

The A Legion State Tournament begins on July 31 in Douglas.
