A Facebook post from an unidentified individual claiming to be April Garcia in the You know you’re from Torrington WY when… Facebook group discusses an incident that allegedly occurred Mon., Aug. 24 at 8:46 p.m.
The origin of the April Garcia account is listed as Storm Lake, Iowa. A link in the post about the shooting leads to a suspect website that asks visitors to log in or create an account to view a video, purportedly showing the alleged shooting.
The Telegram contacted Torrington Police Chief Matt Johnson about the post. Johnson said the police department was not made aware of any shootings in the area. He also said the police department would be investigating the origins of the post.
The Telegram also contacted the Goshen County Sheriff’s Office. A representative of the sheriff’s office said that they had not received any calls of that nature, either.
