Police seeking information, assistance

TORRINGTON – Torrington police are asking for the public's help in gathering information in connection with a possible child abuse case.

On July 18 the Torrington police were informed of an 11-month-old child who had received life threatening head trauma and was flown to Colorado Children’s Hospital in Aurora.

The head trauma was determined not to have come from a fall or accident.

The Torrington Police Department is looking for any information to aid in the investigation.

Lieutenant Doug Weeks, who is in charge of the investigation, said the department has opened a child abuse case. Weeks said he’s tried to interview people who might have information but they have refused to cooperate. The investigation has now stalled, making it impossible to eliminate people who may not be involved, he said.

Individuals with any information that could aid the Torrington Police with this case may call (307) 532-7001 and help this 11th-month old child. A $500 reward is being offered for the arrest and conviction from the Torrington Police Department.
