TORRINGTON – After a brief closure, the former Spirits Sports Bar & Grill restaurant will reopen Monday, Jan. 15 under its new name, 307 Sports Bar & Grill.
The restaurant officially closed its doors on Jan. 1 due to slow sales. After much public outcry on social media regarding the closure, new owners Charlie and Julie Harshberger and James and Tommi Miller announced they had purchased the bar and grill last week during a live Facebook video.
“We offered everyone (who) was let go on Dec. 31 a job – to return (under) the new company,” Julie, who has 25 years of restaurant and bar experience – including a successful stint as manager of Spirits Sports Bar & Grill – said. “Everyone accepted the chance to return.”
Julie will focus on customer service and quality as general manager and owner, and said she is already taking public comments into consideration ahead of opening day.
“We are listening to our customers by bringing back the all-day breakfast, salad bar and Sunday buffet” just to name a few items, Julie explained.
Other special menu items will include meatloaf, cabbage burgers, chicken pot pie, German apple streusel, fish fries on Fridays and prime rib Saturdays.
An upcoming Super Bowl party with food, giveaways and games is also planned.
The restaurant will offer discounts for senior citizens and military members with identification, Julie said.
“We’re bringing in some new items, but returning familiar faces,” Julie said Tuesday, amid a flurry of activity – light remodeling and painting, inventory and business discussions.
“This is what I know,” she added. “We’re starting things at this point, and then we’ll go from there.”
