LAGRANGE – It once was a tractor repair garage built by her husband Kyle Kilty’s Great Grandfather in the 1940’s.

With concrete floors and old tractor parts and mechanics manuals sitting around giving the building a mystique of history, it was the perfect place to blend the old of antiques and the new of crafts from the area and clothing from Farm Girls Boutique. What seemed like a night to stay home because of the threat of rain and hail did not stop a sneak preview of arts and crafts, clothing and antiques, food and wine.

For the women of La Grange Friday night, Taryn Kilty hosted an Antique and Fashion Show that would bringing some of the residents together on that night for fashions, crafts and antiques on Saturday in the La Grange building.

Kilty, a physical therapist by trade, puts together these shows once or twice a year with the help of her family providing the clothing, food and the place where they hold the show. She hunts for antiques to put into the show, which is part of the fun.

“It is a girl’s weekend, driving to Texas to hunt for fun things, antiques, then driving back; we have fun,” Kilty said. “But most of all it is to bring the community together.”

It is more than just putting together a show and selling things to those that come.

“There is something about connecting people that I really love,” said Kilty.

Her mother-in-law is the one who got Kilty started. She has produced the show for the past five years, bringing a night and day out for the women in and around La Grange. Friends come to the show to visit and look for something special to buy new or old, with a sip of wine and a few chips with homemade dip people enjoyed what was a peaceful night.

Kilty will tell you that it would not happen if it were not for the help from family and friends, with her sister-in-law Dianna May making the delicious food, wine from Table Mountain Vineyards, models Brandy Tighe, Karen Daly, Jenna Stratton, Lisa Johnson, Breann Pauls and Myre Pauls, and local women who enjoyed show.

Some of the fashions which blended in to the casual clothing of everyday wear can be found in the Farm Girls Boutique at the 21st and Main building in Torrington.
