FREEMONT, Neb. – Norman Alva Grooms, 65, of Gravois Mills, Mo., passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 in his home. He was born Jan. 29, 1952, in Ainsworth, Neb., a son of the late Alva Edward and Vera Margaret
(Davis) Grooms.
On Aug. 28, 1987, in Fremont, Neb., he was united in marriage to Suzanne Jo (Trotter) Boye. Together they shared the past 29 years of marriage.
He was raised in the Valentine, Neb., area and spent time in Kansas while his father worked construction. He lived in Yankton, S.D., then in Fremont, before moving to Missouri in 2011. He was a truck driver and later started working for Ace Hardware, where he eventually became a Master Service
Technician.
He and his son had been active in the Boy Scouts of America. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering, especially on lawn mowers, doing carpentry and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne of the home; a son, Jeremy N. Grooms and wife Carol of Torrington, Wyo.; a daughter, Bonnie Grooms and friend Ivey Lesly of Yankton; eight granddaughters, Alexandria Grooms, Cheyenna Filips, Ashleigh Grooms, Christa Kotik, Stephanie Sabata, Mykki Sabata, Deborah Reding and Heather Hall; five great-grandchildren, Damon, Bentley, Ella, Jacqueline and Ayden; three step-children, Darren Boye of Fremont, Lorri Boye of Fremont and Kelly Russell of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Margaret Kruse and husband Allen of Gurley, Neb., and Elaine Storms of O’Neill, Neb.; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2017 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
Memorial donations may be made to the family.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
