No. 12 Lady Lancers 2-2 at McCook Community College Tournament

MCCOOK, Neb. – The No. 12-ranked Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancer volleyball team went 2-2 at the McCook Community College Tournament over the weekend.

With some schedule changes, the Lady Lancers ended up playing four Kansas community colleges.

On Friday, EWC knocked off Garden City Community College and Barton Community College.

Against GCCC, the Lady Lancers defeated the Broncbusters, 3-2 (20-25, 25-19, 27-25, 31-33, 15-11).

Freshman Neza Pec led EWC with 15 kills, while sophomore Alyssa Parmelee had 14. Freshman Anja Vuleta added nine. Sophomore libero J’Adore Hayes tallied a team high 22 digs, while sophomore Deyvn Volz had 17. Parmalee recored 15 and freshman Alyssa George 10. Parmalee and freshman Lejla Viteskic had two blocks apiece.

In the second match of the day, the Lady Lancers once again rallied from a 1-0 deficit to knock off the Barton Cougars, 3-1 (16-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-22).

Sophomore Vanja Przulj led the team with 15 kills, while Parmalee had 11. Hayes tallied 14 digs, while Parmalee had 12. Pec and freshman Victoria Anderer had four blocks apiece.

On Saturday, the Lady Lancers blew a 2-0 lead to the Butler Community College Grizzlies, falling 3-2 (18-25, 20-25, 26-24, 25-19, 15-6).

Przulj tallied a team-high 13 kills, while Parmalee added 10. Hayes recorded 21 digs, while Parmelee and Przulj had 14 each. Viteskic led the team with eight blocks.

In the final match of the of weekend, EWC was swept by the No. 10-ranked Seward County Community College Saints.

The Saints handed the Lady Lancers their third loss of the season 25-20, 25-15, 25-23.

Vuleta led the team with seven kills, while Pec, Przulj and Parmalee had five each. Hayes had 12 digs, while Anderer had five blocks.

EWC (8-3) hosts the Lancer Invite on Friday and Saturday. Eastern Wyoming will play No. 8-ranked Northeastern (Colo.) at 2 p.m. Friday and No. 13-ranked Salt Lake City Community College at 6 p.m. On Saturday, EWC plays No. 6-ranked Utah State Eastern at 10 a.m. and North Platte Community College at 6 p.m.
