TORRINGTON – Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Max C. Delgado Herrera 67, at 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father Vincent Parsons officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. 

Max took his last breath on May 14, 2018, at his home in Scottsbluff, Neb. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. 

Max was born June 26, 1950, in Riverton, the son of Emma and Charles Herrera. At age four he, along with his sister Alice, were adopted by John and Josephine Delgado. He grew up and attended school in Torrington. 

From 1967 to 1970 he served in the U..S Army and received his GED there. After his discharge he returned to Torrington, where he attended two years at EWC. On Dec. 22, 1972, he married Guadalupe Martinez in Guernsey and they were later divorced. He lived in Cheyenne until 1985, when he moved to Albuquerque, N.M., where he worked as a police officer for 28 years. He married Cheryl A. Gabaldon and they were later divorced. He moved to Scottsbluff in 2010.

Max enjoyed cars, playing guitar, building, welding and was a great artist. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.

Max is survived by his daughters Jennifer Landers Enter of Witten, Germany, Victoria (Eric) Casillas of Scottsbluff, Aurora (Orlando) Linz and Kathleen Herrera, all of Scottsbluff; sons Max Herrera Jr and John Paul Herrera both of Albuquerque; his mother Josephine Delgado of Torrington; sisters Jennie Herrera, Rosie Garcia, Linda Montoya, Dorothy Gallegos, Alice Quintana and Lydia Vargas; brothers Charles Richard Herrera and David Herrera; and 10 grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his biological parents Emma and Charles Herrera; his adopted father John Delgado; sisters Genevieve Martinez, Charlotte Herrera, Delores Delgado and Gertrude Herrera; and brothers Tommie Herrera and Pete Vargas.
