TORRINGTON – Funeral services for Marvin E. Jones, 103, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bruce McBurney officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Marvin died Aug. 2, 2021, at Goshen Healthcare Community. Memorials may be given to the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church Building Fund or the Torrington Senior Friendship Center. Marvin was born Jan. 18, 1918, in Watonga, Oklahoma the son of Edward and Edna (McCall) Jones. He graduated high school in Thomas, Oklahoma in 1934 and attended a semester of college. Marvin married Lucile Pitzer on June 21, 1942, at the Pastor’s house near Hydro, Oklahoma. He entered the US Army in 1943 during World War II and was discharged in 1946. He learned water well drilling from his uncle and formed Water Systems Inc in Casper before he started Jones Drilling in Torrington.

Marvin enjoyed bowling, dancing, hunting, fishing, camping and reading. He was a life member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion and a member of the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, a deacon and a trustee. 

Marvin is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Floyd) Schaneman of Bullhead City, Arizona; a son, Kelly Jones of Torrington; a brother, Townsel (Mary) Jones of Torrington; sisters, Joyce Dobbins, Joann Jones and Sharon Cook all of Yukon, Oklahoma and Rosemarie Brehm of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Juaniva Megli of Thomas, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucile; a daughter, Patty Wood; a sister, Opal; four brothers, Dewayne, JD, Doyle and Delvin; and two granddaughters, Robin and Shelly.
