TORRINGTON – On Sunday, July 17, 2022, Mariah Dawn Johns, fiercely loving mother, wife, aunt, nurse and best friend tragically passed away at the age of 48 due to an unforeseen kayaking accident. Per her wishes, Mariah will be cremated, and no services will be held. Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington assisted the family with arrangements. Any memories or sentiments can be communicated directly to the family. 

Mariah was born on May 24, 1974 in Torrington to James and Cynthia Hudelson. She was raised in Torrington with her two brothers and graduated from Torrington High in 1992. She continued her education at Eastern Wyoming College through 1994, studying Veterinary Technology, but eventually humanized her practice and graduated from the accelerated nursing program from Western Nebraska Community College in 2019. 

Mariah is greeted in death by her parents, James and Cynthia Hudelson; brother, Gordon Hudelson. 

While she unfortunately departs, she lives on through and is survived by her husband, Clayton Johns of Torrington; her children, Colton Johns and fiancé, Elizabeth Bayliss of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Dawson Johns of Omaha, Nebraska; brother Sean (Kim) Hudelson of Englewood, Colorado; In-laws Roy and Jody Johns of Torrington; sisters-in-law Angela (Joshua) Garner of Torrington; Karri (Dan) Garner of Torrington; nieces Nakisha Garner, Nakalyn Garner, Justene Garner, and Megan Garner of Torrington; nephews Gavin Garner and Curtis Garner of Torrington; Nathan and Quinn Hudelson of Englewood, Colorado; and several other close friends and community members that had the privilege of knowing her. 

Mariah was more than just a beautiful human being. Her soul had a way of connecting with others and she always knew exactly when you needed comfort, a listening ear, a good belly- laugh, or even a bit of retail therapy. Physically, her presence will be missed, but her spirit still exists in the morning breeze and the midnight moonlight.
