LARAMIE – Several Goshen County indoor track and field athletes competed in Laramie over the weekend, combining to bring home 10 top-15 finishes.

Landen Fuller (Lingle-Fort Laramie) had another stellar weekend, tying for first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.69. He also took second in the 400 with a time of 52.11 seconds.

“Landen had another phenomenal meet,” L-FL coach Mike Lashley said. “He is far ahead of where he was at the end of the indoor season last year.”

Also on the track for the boys, Blazer Aaron Borger finished fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.09. Kelly Peterson (L-FL) took 12th in the same event, finishing in 2:18.89.

In the boys shot put, Torrington’s Corbin Harris recorded a put of 44 feet, 8 inches to take fifth. Blazer Nathaniel Woodruff finished ninth in the shot put with a 41-foot, 9-inch effort.

In the girls’ action, Nakalyn Garner (THS) picked up the bronze in the pole vault after clearing 8 feet, 6 inches. Lady Dogger Jordyn Gaspers competed in three different field events, snagging sixth in the high jump (4 feet, 4 inches), 14th in the triple jump (28 feet, 11 inches) and 15th in the long jump (13 feet, 8.25 inches).

“As the results from this past weekend show, we saw great improvement from these kids throughout the last two months,” Lashley said. “Running the halls every single day can wear on you mentally and physically, but these athletes did a great job staying focused all season long. Each of them will have a jump start on the outdoor season that begins March 5.”

The action in Laramie was the final event for many of the local athletes, but a few are slated to compete in the state indoor track and field championships in Gillette this weekend.
