GERING, Neb. – Torrington High School senior Aydan Loya remains unbeaten in 2022, picking up his second win of the season on Friday at the Gering Invite.

Loya won the event in 17 minutes, 37.14 seconds, a full three seconds ahead of second place.

Freshman Sully Wilson finished 11th in 19:13.07, while junior Myles Wilson was 15th in 19:27.04. Freshman Cole Keller was 21st in 20:17.69, and junior Zabdiel Munoz placed 30th in 20:41.14.

As a team, the Blazers finished second with 39 points. Gering won the team title with 21 points. Scottsbluff, Nebraska was third with 44.

In the girls’ division, the Lady Blazers finished seventh with 99 points. Scottsbluff won the team title with 28 points. Chadron, Nebraska and Gering tied for second place with 46 points.

Junior Ada Merrigan paced the Lady Blazers with a 14th-place finish in 24:39.60. Freshman Kaycee Kosmicki finished one place back in 15th in 24:44.12, while sophomore Tiffany Krueger was 16th in 24:45.52. Amberly Froerer crossed the finish line in 25:33 to place 20th. Sophomore Callie Taylor was 24th in 26:11.59.

In the junior varsity races, freshman Brody Harrison was 39th in 33:11.80 in the boys’ race, while freshman Elli Froerer was 14th in the girls’ race.

Torrington is back in action on Friday, Sept. 9 in Kimball, Nebraska.
