WONDER LAKE, Ill. – Lori Clarice (Lay) Niemeyer, age 62 of Wonder Lake, passed away Sept. 10, 2022. She was born on June 23, 1960, in Torrington, Wyoming, to Randall Douglas and Helen Clarice (Hirz) Lay. She met Theodore Michael Niemeyer in August of 1981 in Wyoming, and married him on July 16, 1983, in Our Savior Lutheran Church in Torrington.
Lori and her family would travel all over the U.S. going to Railroad meetings, when the children were young. She worked with the 4-H clubs. She was involved in many craft shows. Her strongest craft was custom leather tooling. She owned a store in Torrington named the “Healthy Hide” where she sold her leather craft and natural foods.
Lori is survived by her husband, Theodore, her children, Ciara Michele Niemeyer and Jordan Isaiah Niemeyer, her grandson, Zyaire Isaiah Wimberly, and a brother, Eugene Lay.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Lana Svoboda, Kevin Lay, Kimberly Lay and Beth Ann Stevens.
A memorial gathering took place on Saturday, Oct. 8. 2022, at the Fellowship of Faith Lutheran Church, 6120 Mason Hill Road, McHenry, IL 60050 from 10 a.m. to 12:01 p.m.
A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at Our Savior of Lutheran Church, 2973 E. B Street, Torrington, WY 82240, from 9-10:30 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 am.
