Locals earn postseason basketball awards

GOSHEN COUNTY – Ten area high school basketball players earned postseason basketball accolades following the conclusion of the Class 1A State Basketball Tournament in Casper last week.

Southeast led the way with seven players, while Lingle-Fort Laramie had three.

The Cyclones had four players – Sophomores Kealy Carson and Brenna Herring and seniors Hayden Anderson and Bodie Herring – make the 1A All-State team following third-place finishes at the state tournament.

Junior Cord Herring, senior Sawyer Anderson and sophomore Sydney Anderson joined the four on the 1A Southeast All-Conference list.

Bodie Herring was also named 1A Southeast Quadrant and SEWAC Player of the Year 1A, while Lady Cyclone coach was 1A Southeast Quadrant Coach of the Year.

Meanwhile, the Lingle-Fort Laramie Dogger teams had a trio of players recognized for their efforts this season.

Freshman Natalie Speckner made both the 1A Southeast Quadrant and SEWAC All-Conference teams, while senior Cordell Forkner made the Southeast Quadrant team. Senior Cooper Hill earned a spot on the SEWAC All-Conference list.
