Local dance students compete in Gillette

TORRINGTON – Students from 28th Avenue Dance Studio here competed last week in the Spotlight Dance Cup in Gillette.
Competing against 20 dancers in the Teen Future Gems division, Brittany Schlager received a Ruby designation, Calista Dugger received the Ruby award and was named category winner, placing eighth overall. Fellow 28th Avenue student Avey Jespersen also received the Ruby prize and placed 10th overall, as well as being named a category winner.
In the Petite Future Gems Division, Audrina Dugger and Nora Jespersen, ages 7-8, were awarded Emerald designation. Ava Mattis, 9, received the top Diamond prize and second-place overall in the Junior Division from among 18 dancers total.
In addition to the Saturday and Sunday competitions, dancers were given the opportunity to take a master class.
