TORRINGTON – The Scottsbluff Valley Street Rods held a car show on Saturday, Sept. 25 called “Classic Cars on Main,” featuring their biggest turnout ever.

Exhibitors lined their cars up and down Main Street between 19th and 22nd Avenues. People wandered up and down the street, some of them with voting ballots in their hands. Vendors sold food, shirts and jewelry. A DJ played music and asked trivia questions between songs. Scottsbluff Valley Street Rods provided a free lunch for participants.

Among the many vintage and classic cars, the Torrington Fire Department featured its original 1934 Ford fire truck, parts of which a local blacksmith shop had constructed. The town of Yoder bought the decommissioned truck in 1948 and the Torrington Fire Department bought it back in 1983. The truck continues to run in parades and special events in Torrington.

The Scottsbluff Valley Street Rods is a local car club based in the Scottsbluff Valley region. It was first established in 1973 and continues to hold shows in the eastern Wyoming and western Nebraska areas.

“I particularly enjoyed seeing unique vehicles and seeing lots of people,” Torrington Mayor Randy Adams, who was in attendance, said about the event. “The organizers did a great job.”
