TORRINGTON – It is the midway point in the Wyoming high school boys basketball season. The regional tournament for 1A and 2A is set for Feb. 22-24 and 3A and 4A schools are slated for their regional tournaments on March 1-3.

Torrington

The Blazers are currently sitting at .500 with a 5-5 record with an 0-1 mark against conference opponents. Torrington has won two of their past three games, most recently beating Mitchell, Neb. 73-52 on Jan. 11.

Torrington ranks sixth in 3A in scoring, averaging 59.2 points per game. As a team, they allow 56.9 points per game (13th). The Blazers rank fourth with a 45 percent shooting percentage, while sitting seventh in the class with 29 boards per game.

So far this season, Jordan Malm is the top scorer for the Blazers, averaging 15.9 points per game. Bryan Lemmon is just behind Malm with 15.3 points per game. The Blazer duo ranks fourth and fifth in the conference in scoring and eighth and 10th in 3A. Jared Lemmon is third in scoring for Torrington, pouring in 10.7 points per game. Nathan Stitt (4.7 PPG), Bo Moorehouse (4.1 PPG) and Devin Flores (3.8 PPG) are other big scoring contributors.

Jared Lemmon ranks sixth in the class on the boards, averaging 7.2 rebounds per game. He averages three boards on the offensive end of the floor and 4.2 on defense. Bryan Lemmon averages 5.7 boards per game, while Malm has 4.4 rebounds per game to his credit.

In the assist department, Malm paces Torrington with 2.4 per game, followed closely by Bryan Lemmon’s 2.2 assists per contest and Stitt’s 2.1 assists. Bryan Lemmon (1.8), Stitt (1.4) and Moorehouse (1.2) all are menaces on defense, averaging more than one steal per contest. Bryan Lemmon also has one block per game this year.

Southeast

The Cyclones have a 3-8 record this winter, with the balance of their conference opponents left on their schedule. They have won two of their past three games, beating Tongue River 57-40 on Jan. 5 and they are coming off of a big win over county rival Lingle-Fort Laramie, 54-26, on Saturday. In its most recent loss, Southeast fell to Big Horn in double-overtime, 61-59.

Southeast sits 10th in 2A in scoring, averaging 51.5 points per game. On the defensive end of the floor, the Cyclones have allowed their opponents to score 52.7 points per game, which is eighth in the class.

Over the past five games, Kaden Malm has topped the scoring sheet for the Cyclones, averaging 11.4 points per game, followed closely by Sterling Werner who is averaging 10.8 points per game. Fellow senior Brady Fullmer has chipped in 8.6 points per game, while freshman Hayden Anderson chips in 9.4 points per game.

In the same time frame, Werner has hauled in 7.4 boards per game, while Anderson has accounted for 4.6 rebounds a game. Malm chips in three rebounds a game, while Fullmer rounds out the top rebounders with 4.2 rebounds in each of the past five games.

Werner is a tough defender, averaging four steals in each of the last five games, while Fullmer has tallied 2.6 steals per game.

Lingle-Fort Laramie

The Doggers are 2-8 this year and are coming off a loss against county rival Southeast, 54-26. L-FL’s last win came over Guernsey-Sunrise 48-44 on Jan. 6. The Doggers’ other win came in their season opener against Shoshoni, 44-35.

L-FL is 15th in 1A in scoring, averaging 38.6 points per game, while allowing 59.4 points per game, which is 16th in the class. The Dogger’s 34 percent shooting percentage is 16th, while their 28.5 rebounds per game is 11th-best in the class.

Ty Mueller is the top scorer for the Doggers, pouring in 9.6 points per game. Caeden Riley, with 9.2 points, and Mason McFadden, with 8.4 points, are not far behind Mueller in the scoring department. Outside of the top three, Cordell Forkner chips in 3.4 points per game and Rhett Greenwald adds another 2.1. Nine different Doggers average more than one point per game this winter.

On the boards, McFadden ranks ninth in 1A in rebounds, with 8.9 to his credit, including 3.4 on offense and 5.5 on defense. Riley and Greenwald are also big on the boards with 5.0 and 4.3 rebounds per game, respectively. Mueller (3.8 RPG) and Hayden Hill (2.4 RPG) help out on the boards for the Doggers.

Mueller paces L-FL in assists, with 2.4 per game with Riley sliding into second on the team with 1.7 per contest. Greenwald has tallied a steal per game, while Mueller accounts for just over a block per game.
