LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast wrestling team hosted the annual Dogger Invite which was rebranded to the Dogger Duals this season because of the event format change from the normal individual style tournament to the dual format.
The Class 2A fifth-ranked LFLSE team finished the day 3-0 with win 46-33 win over the Natrona County junior varsity squad, 60-18 victory over Saratoga and 45-23 win over Kelly Walsh JV.
In the opening match of the day, LFLSE and Natrona County JV went down to the final two matches of the dual.
LFLSE opened the dual with a trio of victories, including a fall at 106 pounds by Grant Logsdon, a 15-3 major decision at 113 pounds by Wyatt Sylvester and an open victory at 120 pounds.
The Mustangs battled back with three straight wins of their own to draw the score within one at 16-15.
At 145 pounds, Gage Gibson scored a fall, and at 152 pounds Natrona County was open.
The Mustangs got two more wins at 160 and 170 pounds, but Ethan Steinhausen got a pin at 182 pounds to keep LFLSE in front.
LFLSE was open 195, making the score 34-33 heading into the final two matches.
At 220 pounds, Jessy Valentine got the pin to secure the team victory, and Will Baker capped off the dual with a pin of his own at 285 pounds.
In the second round, LFLSE only lost one match against Saratoga, in addition to being open at 160 and 195 pounds.
Sylvester, Cooper Fauber (132 pounds), Gibson, Lance York (152), Valentine and Baker and Logsdon got wins for LFLSE.
In the final dual of the day, LFLSE’s Kaleb Brothwell got the dual started with a 6-2 win at 120 pounds. Gibson, York, Steinhausen, Valentine, Baker and Logsdon also got wins.
LFLSE returns to the mats on Friday in Wheatland. Action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Torrington, Newcastle and Wheatland will also take part in the Wheatland Duals.
