TORRINGTON – The Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast wrestling team made the short drive to Torrington to compete in the annual Blazer Duals on Saturday.
The Class 2A fifth-ranked LFLSE team finished the day with two wins in the triangular format event, defeating Glenrock and Torrington.
LFLSE opened the day with a 48-36 win over the Glenrock Herders.
Starting the dual at 120 pounds, Wyatt Sylvester set the tone for the rest of the match with a fall victory. Kaleb Brothwell (126 pounds), Cooper Fauber (132) and Jaden VanGundy (138) added three additional wins to give LFLSE a 24-0 lead.
Glenrock picked up its first points at 145 pounds, but Lance York scored a first-period fall at 152 pounds for LFLSE
Glenrock rattled off five straight wins beginning at 160 pounds, but at 285 pounds, Will Baker ended the streak of Herder wins with a fall in the first period. Class 2A top-ranked Grant Logsdon (106) and Brock Blevins (113) added wins to secure the victory.
In the team’s second dual of the day, LFLSE defeated Torrington 48-21.
Torrington was open at 106 pounds, spotting LFLSE a 6-0 lead, and at 132 pounds, Fauber scored a fall victory. VanGundy and Gibson got wins at 138 and 145, respectively.
At 152 pounds, Bryce Hager picked up a pin, and LFLSE was open at 160 and 170.
Both teams were open at 182 and 195, but Jessy Valentine had a forfeit win at 220. At 285, Torrington’s Sam Sorenson moved up from 220 to wrestle Will Baker, scoring a 3-1 win.
Blevins and Brothwell capped off the day with wins for LFLSE.
The team will be back in action Saturday, hosting the Dogger Duals. Action begins at 8 a.m. in Lingle.
