LFLSE duo win individual titles in Newcastle

NEWCASTLE – Seniors Will Baker and Grant Logsdon won individual titles in their respective weight classes for the Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast wrestling team at last weekend’s Newcastle Invite.

Baker breezed through the 285-pound bracket with three pins. Baker, the top ranked wrestler at 285 in Class 2A, capped off the day with a 26 second pin in the championship match against 2As No. 3-ranked Christian Reilly of Hulett. Baker is now 7-1 on the season.

Meanwhile, at 120 pounds, Logsdon, the No. 2-ranked wrestler, picked up pins in the quarterfinal and semifinal round, scoring a 13-3 major decision in the championship match against Lance Streifel of Thunder Basin.

Baker and Logsdon led the team of seven additional wrestlers who placed in the top six in Newcastle.

Jaden Houk (126 pounds) finished his day with a win. Houk went 4-1 with his only setback coming in the semifinal round. He bounced back with a pair of pins to finish third.

At 132 pounds, Kaleb Brothwell also finished third with a 4-1 record, reaching the third-place match. His final match of the day was ruled a no contest win over MJ Ulmer of Hulett.

Wyatt Sylvester (113), Tiegen Thompson (160) and Gage Gibson (170) finished fourth, while Emmett Coxbill (195) placed fifth. Carter Blevins (138) finished sixth.

As a team, LFLSE finished fifth in the team standings with 148 points. Niobrara County won the team title with 171 points, while Natrona County was second with 168.

LFLSE hosts the Dogger Invite on Saturday. Action gets underway at 9 a.m.
