LFLSE 3-0 in Wheatland

WHEATLAND ñ The Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast wrestling team moved up to No. 3 in the latest Class 2A team rankings and made the most of it with three more wins at the Wheatland Duals on Friday with wins Wheatland, Saratoga and Moorcroft.

In the first dual of the day, LFLSE defeated Wheatland 42-36.

Grant Logsdon and Wyatt Sylvester got the dual off on a winning note with a pair of falls at 106 and 113 pounds. Wheatland was open at 120 pounds, and Jaden Houk scored a fall in 30 seconds at 126 pounds.

The Bulldogs battled back and got six straight wins of their own, but at 182 pounds, LFLSE wrestler Ethan Steinhausen got the team back in the win column with a first period pin.

Wheatland was open at 220 and 285 pounds, handing Jessy Valentine and Will Baker wins to close out the dual.

In the second dual, LFLSE rolled to a 60-12 victory over the Saratoga Panthers.

Logsdon and Brock Blevins got first period falls, and Saratoga was open at 120, 126 and 132.

The Panthers got their only wins of the dual at 138 and 145 pounds, but Saratoga was open at the remaining weights to close out the dual.

In the final dual of the day, LFLSE defeated defending Class 2A state champion Moorcroft 54-21.

Sylvester, Brothwell and Houk got first period falls to give LFLSE an 18-0 lead.

Moorcorft got a win at 132 pounds, but Jaden VanGundy got a pin in the second period at 138 pounds. Gage Gibson backed up the win with a fall of his own at 145 pounds.

Taylor Swartwood and Logsdon also got pins, while Valentine and Baker were victorious by forfeits.

LFLSE hosts the Southeast Duals on Saturday. Action is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m. in Yoder.
