LFL Dogger boys dismantle Burns

BURNS – The Lingle-Fort Laramie boys’ basketball team exacted their revenge over Burns for a loss earlier this season, holding the Broncs to 19 points in a 36-19 win on the road Friday.
Ty Mueller led the Doggers in scoring and he was the only one in double-figures, racking up 13 points. He shot 5-of-7 from inside the arc and added a three-pointer. Mueller chipped in two rebounds, three assists and a team-high three steals to his stat line.
Seniors Justice Madayag and Taylor Wagner were the second and third leading scorers for LFL. Madayag accounted for seven points, a team-high 10 rebounds, three assists and a steal. Wagner contributed six points, three boards, an assist and two steals. Garrett Cooper and Brandon Hill each amassed four points for LFL.
The Doggers shot 47 percent from the field, but only 14 percent from behind the arc. They shot better from the free-throw line (5-of-6) than the Broncs did (5-of-7).


Pine Bluffs 77, LFL 45
The Doggers ran into 2A’s top-ranked Pine Bluffs Saturday at home for Senior Night, and the Hornets proved to be superior.
The Doggers kept the game relatively close to start the game. By the end of the first quarter, LFL was down 17-10. The Hornets blew the game open in the second quarter and took a 45-24 lead into intermission. Going into the final quarter, the Doggers were down by 30 points. Both teams used their bench players for a majority of the final frame, where the Hornets put up 12 points, compared to LFL’s 10.
For the second game in a row, Mueller topped the stat sheet in scoring, with 14 points. He paired his 6-of-11 shooting with five rebounds, two assists and a block. Hill racked up nine points of his own to go along with five rebounds, an assist and a steal.
On Senior Night, Cooper, Wagner, Madayag and Dallen Fleenor combined for 12 points. Cooper fouled out of the contest but still racked up a team-high six boards and a block. Fleenor, Wagner and Madayag combined for six rebounds, an assist and three steals.
In the losing effort, LFL shot 43 percent from the floor. Mueller was the only Dogger to hit a three, resulting in a 17 percent shooting percentage from behind the arc. The Doggers took 21 free throws and hit 12 of them.
At the end of the regular season, LFL sits with the best record in the conference at 13-7. The Doggers earned the top seed out of the south for the regional tournament. Their first action of regionals comes against Hulett Thursday at 7 p.m. in Douglas.
