ALLIANCE, Neb. – Larry John Debus, 83, passed away June 4, 2022 at Highland Park Care Center. He was born at his home in Torrington July 14, 1938 to John and Frieda (Schlager) Debus. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1956. In his youth he was a member of the Wyoming National Guard. He married Karen J. Blaylock on June 1, 1957. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. To this union three children were born.

Larry and Karen lived in Torrington until 1967 where he worked for Martindale Plumbing and Heating. They then moved to Morrill, Nebraska where Larry went to work at Platte Valley Plumbing and Heating in Scottsbluff. He moved the family to Kansas for work purposes in the fall of 1968. They then moved back to northwest of Morrill in the spring of 1970. In the fall of 1973 the opportunity presented itself for him to move his family to Alliance while he was working for Modern Plumbing and Heating. He was given the opportunity in late 1974 early 1975 to pursue his own business creating Alliance Plumbing and Heating which was located at 504 Flack. In the early 80s Larry went to work for the city of Alliance. He worked for the city water department for seven years then went back to work plumbing with his son Brian until 2000 when he suffered a major heart attack which forced him into early retirement.

His entire life Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. They purchased a cabin at Lake Minatare in 1981. This is where the kids, grandkids and great grandkids enjoyed the lake and all it had to offer.

He is survived by his wife Karen of the home, sons Brian of Alliance, Brent of Gering and daughter Suzanne (Roger) Bedient of Alliance, daughter-in-love Lora Young of Omaha, his grandchildren, Paige Debus of Alliance, Kyle (Katelynn) Debus of Gering, Justin Debus (Jennifer Figueroa), Jessica Debus, AJ (Ammie) Bedient, all of Alliance, Kaycee(Katie) Bedient Mosley of Lincoln, Cherity Bedient and Evin Bedient of Alliance, granddaughter-in-love Amanda(Nick) Klever of St. Paul Minnesota and his great-grandchildren, Leah Johnson, Anastasia Looser of Alliance, Lincoln and Jenna Debus of Gering, Steven Long(Bedient), Addisyn and Brecken Bedient of Alliance. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Huckfeldt of Sheridan, his sister-in-law, Paula Foster of Alliance and numerous nieces and nephews and his puppy Juliette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Karl Blaylock, brother and sister-in-law Vern and Joyce Debus, brothers-in-law, Phillip Blaylock and Fritz Huckfeldt, Robert Foster, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karla and Harv Bartel, daughters-in-law Laurie (Stafford) Debus and Nancy (Beiber) Debus, granddaughter Rylee Mae Bedient, numerous aunts and uncles and his puppies Tinker, Mandy and Sheena.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Alliance, 515 Emerson with Russel Saito officiating. Cremation has already taken place and inurnment will follow in the Alliance Cemetery.
