Lancers win Lamar tournament

LAMAR, Colo. – The Eastern Wyoming College golf team recently returned from a tournament hosted by Lamar Community College where the Lancers won the team title with a total score of 447.  McCook Community College from Nebraska slid into the second place spot, shooting a team total 465 on the course.
Round two of the tournament was canceled after 9 holes due to the weather.
“The guys played great on Thursday and took full advantage of some really nice weather. They ended the first day with a 13 stroke lead,” coach Zach Smith said. “They were mentally prepared for the poor weather on Friday and continued to play well until the tournament was called after 9 holes.  It was a great team win for EWC.”
Leading the Lancers individually was Harry Walch, freshman, with a score of 105. He placed second in the tournament.  Other Lancers scores were as follows: Adrian Torres-Ruiz, sophomore – 111, 5th; Arvy Shongwe, freshman – 115, 9th; Denton Shaw, sophomore – 116, tied 10th; Jared Pilkington, freshman – 124; Eric Lovell, sophomore – 129.
