Lancers drop two road games

TRINIDAD, Colo. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancers suffered two losses on the road this weekend, falling to Otero Junior College Friday, 93-86, and Trinidad State Junior College Saturday, 97-67.

OJC 93, EWC 86
The Lancers allowed Otero Junior College to put up 52 points in the first half, while scoring 44 points of their own. In the second half, EWC poured in 42 points, which was one point more than Otero, but it was not enough to make up the difference, as the Lancers fell on Friday, 93-86.
Ahmad Pratt amassed 37 points on 11-of-16 shooting, including 7-of-9 from behind the arc. He also added eight points on perfect shooting from the charity stripe. Pratt led the Lancers in rebounds, with nine boards on the night.

In the loss, Petar Skoknic, Jovan Elezovic and Walker Korell were all in double-figures. Skoknic amassed 17 points, nine of which were from behind the arc, while Elezovic chipped in 11. Korell accounted for 10 points on the night. The three combined for 10 rebounds and six assists. Skoknic tied for the team-lead in assists, with three.
Trey Schroefel rounded out the starting five against Otero. He chipped in four points, six rebounds and three assists on Friday. Jordan Mirich and Will Osborn came off the bench and combined for seven points for EWC.
As a team, the Lancers shot better from behind the arc (45.7 percent) than they did from the field (40.6 percent). They knocked down 70 percent from the free-throw line.

Trinidad State 97, EWC 67
Against Trinidad State Junior College on Saturday, Korell and Osborn poured in the most points for the Lancers. Korell shot 6-of-11 from the field and knocked down three shots from deep to rack up 16 points. All 15 of Osborn’s points came from behind the arc. Korell also led EWC in rebounds, with six.
Skoknic and Elezovic each had eight points and three rebounds on the night. Elezovic also contributed an assist, a steal and the team’s only block. Skoknic accounted for four assists, which was second on the team to Schroefel’s nine. EWC’s bench accounted for 33 points in the contest.
The Lancers shot 36.5 percent from the field, while allowing Trinidad State to hit 56.5 percent of their shots. EWC did outshoot its opponent from behind the arc, hitting 14-of-30, while Trinidad State hit 8-of-17.
After the two losses, EWC sits at 4-21 this winter. The Lancers only have five games remaining during the regular season. They return to the hardwood at home when they take on North Platte Community College Friday at 7:30 p.m. and McCook Community College Saturday at 4 p.m.
