Lancers 0-2 at LCCC

CHEYENNE – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancers men’s basketball team took on both Sheridan College and Northern Colorado P2P Elite at Laramie County Community College over the weekend, falling in both games.

The Lancers took on the Generals to open the weekend. EWC found itself down 45-33 at the break. The Lancers were outscored by 17 points in the second half to fall, 102-73.

In the loss, Brandon Meadows had a solid outing, coming off of the bench for 23 points, including six from behind the arc and five at the charity stripe. Meadows rounded out his stat line with three boards, an assist and a steal.

Walker Korell, with 12 points, and Alek Cosic, with 10 points, were the other Lancers in double-figures. Cosic also tied for the team lead with four rebounds, while finishing the game with two assists, two steals and a team-high two blocks. Korell rounded out his stat line with three boards and four steals.

Ty Larson also had active hands on the defensive end of the court, finishing with four steals along with eight points off the bench. Rhythm Ajanku turned in a nine-point performance, along with two steals and a board. Nick Holmes, Chad Hinrichs, Daniel Wright and Bruno Oliveira rounded out the scorers for EWC, totaling 11 points.

EWC had five scorers in double-digits against Northern Colorado on Saturday, but still couldn’t secure the win. After being outscored 69-37 in the first half, the Lancers kept things close in the second, getting outscored 57-52. EWC fell in their second game of the weekend 126-89.

Kolton Wall was the top scorer Saturday, pouring in 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the floor. He went 4-of-10 from deep and 4-of-7 from the free-throw line. Wall also accounted for six boards, an assist, a steal and the team’s only block.

Cosic, who had 11 points in the game, was active on the boards, hauling down seven rebounds, five of which were offensive. He added two steals to his stat line.

Korell and Larson were the other two starters in double-figures. Korell turned in 15 points, all from behind the arc, where he shot 5-of-8. Larson chipped in 10 points, four of which came from the charity stripe. Korell ended the game with six rebounds, with Larson adding another three. The duo also each had two assists and a steal. Brandon Meadows, the final starter, finished with eight points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists.

Holmes came off the bench for 13 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Wright and Ajanku combined for 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The Lancers are out to an 0-3 start on the young season. They return to action this weekend for the Air Force Prep Tournament, before coming back to defend their home floor against Sheridan College Monday at 6 p.m.
