Lancer rodeo team competitive at CSU rodeo

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo team recently returned from the CSU hosted rodeo where several members of the team qualified for the top-10 short round.
In the team roping, freshman Bryer Wadhams and sophomore partner Trevor Schnaufer, both from Pueblo, Colo., were fourth in the first round, fifth in the short and finished the weekend fourth in the average.  This team is also currently sitting 2nd in the Central Rocky Mountain Regional (CRMR) standings.
Teammates Canton Afdahl, freshman, and partner Wyatt Schuelke, freshman, were second in the first round with a time of 6.0 seconds.  Riley Curuchet, sophomore and Denton Shaw, sophomore, were third in the first round with a time of 6.4 seconds.

Other team ropers currently in the top ten of the CRMR standings are:  Braden Pirrung, freshman – second place heading; Logan Milligan, sophomore, and Coley Nicholls, sophomore – fourth; brothers Cody and Chance Lane – eighth; and Curuchet and Shaw – ninth.
In the tie down roping, sophomore JJ Skarohlid was second in the first round, sixth in the short round and sixth in the average.  Caden Packer, sophomore, was fifth in the first round and Levi Walter, freshman, was fouth.
Steer wrestler Danny Manning, sophomore, was second in the first round, sixth in the short round and sixth in the average.  Manning is currently sitting in seventh place in the regional standings.
Schuelke, who also competes in the saddle bronc riding is sitting in seventh place in the regional standings.
The Lancers have two rodeos left in the regular season to see who will qualify to compete at the College National Finals Rodeo in June.  They will compete in Casper April 21-23 and Laramie April 27-29.
