Lancer men season ends with loss to western nebraska

SHERIDAN – The Eastern Wyoming College men’s basketball team saw its season come to a close in the quarterfinal round of the Region IX Tournament on Thursday afternoon with an 83-62 loss to Western Nebraska Community College.

The Cougars jumped out to a 42-28 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.

Despite that, EWC kept things close early, holding a five-point lead midway through the first half.

That’s when WNCC turned up the heat, pulling away late in the first half.

In the second half, the Cougars added another 41 points, while the Lancers scored 34.

Western Nebraska shot 48 percent for the game, burying 14 3-pointers, while the Lancers shot 35 percent.

Sophomore Brandon Meadows tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman Jonatan Arvidsson recorded a team-high 18 points. Freshman Sam Tiley tossed in nine.

The Lancers season ends with a 12-20 record.
