Lady Lancers go winless in Texas
WEATHERFORD, Texas – The Eastern Wyoming College volleyball team returned to action for the first time since Tuesday, Aug. 29 on Friday and Saturday.
It was a rough go for the Lady Lancers in Texas, as the team dropped all four matches.
On Friday, EWC opened against tournament host Weatherford College, falling to the No. 11-ranked team 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 30-28).
Sophomore Ana Djurovic led the Lady Lancers with 11 kills, while freshman Neeley Rutledge added eight. Djurovic also added a team-high three aces and four blocks, while sophomore Keelie Bunker tallied 15 digs.
Later on Friday, Eastern Wyoming fell to Western Texas College 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-13, 25-22).
Djurovic tallied 25 kills and 16 digs in the loss, while freshman Belle Dolan and Rutledge added seven each. Emma Blackstar dished out 21 assists and recorded four aces.
On Saturday, the Lady Lancers fell to Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College 3-1 (16-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-16).
Djurovic and Dolan led EWC with 13 kills each. Freshman Siale Unufe added eight, while Anderson had six. Bunker led the team with 10 digs, while Blackstar had 23 assists. Freshman Morgan Lonn had three blocks.
EWC wrapped up play against the No. 2-ranked Navarro College, falling 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-14).
Djurovic led the team with 10 kills and 14 digs, while freshman Sydney Anderson added seven. Freshman Siale Unufe and Dolan had three blocks each.
The Lady Lancers are now 4-10 on the season and return home this weekend for the annual Wyo-Braska Tournament. Eastern Wyoming will face Missouri State University-West Plains at 1 p.m. Friday and Trinidad State (Colorado) College at 7 p.m. On Saturday, EWC wraps up play at 11 a.m. against Lake Region (North Dakota) State College at 11 a.m.
