MCCOOK, Neb. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancer volleyball team went winless at the McCook Invite over the weekend.
The four losses drop the team to 0-9 to start the season.
EWC fell to Butler (Kansas) Community College and Iowa Western Community College on Friday before being beat by Otero (Colorado) Junior College and Colby (Kansas) Community College on Saturday.
All four matches ended in a 3-0 sweep.
On Friday, the Lady Lancers lost to a Butler team who is receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division I rankings, 25-8, 25-8, 25-8.
Freshman Avery West led the team with five kills, while sophomore Makenna Reinert and freshman Ana Djurovic had two apiece. Sophomore Halle Hogan tallied a team-high nine assists and eight digs.
Later in the day, EWC played preseason No. 1-ranked Iowa Western, losing 25-14, 25-16, 25-22.
Reinert led the team with 11 kills, while Djurovic had six and freshman Hannah Pharr five. Hogan recorded 17 assists, while freshman Aliyah Frazier had 11 digs.
On Saturday against Otero, EWC suffered a 25-16, 25-16, 25-12 loss.
Djurovic had six kills, while West had five and Reinert four. Freshman Viktoria Sarbakova led the team with 13 assists.
In the final game of the weekend, EWC lost its fourth straight match by sweep 25-14, 25-14, 25-19 to Colby.
Pharr and Reinert had three kills each, while West and Djurovic added two apiece.
The Lady Lancers (0-9) open the home schedule Wednesday night against No. 4-ranked Western Nebraska Community College (10-1). First serve is scheduled at 7 p.m.
