TORRINGTON – The Eastern Wyoming College volleyball team wrapped up the first time through the Region IX North Sub-Region with a weekend sweep of Northwest College and Sheridan College.

On Friday, the Lady Lancers brushed aside the Northwest Trappers, 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-18).

EWC sophomore Charlene Hosly and freshman Vanja Przulj led the team with eight kills each, while sophomore Tina Betham and freshman Lauren Feierabend added six each. Freshman Devyn Volz dished out a team-high 12 assists.

On the defensive side of the net, Hosly recorded 15 digs, while freshman Janaya Sims led the team with four assisted blocks.

The next day, the Lady Lancers got off to a sluggish start, trailing by as many as 18-9.

EWC cut the deficit as few as two courtesy of a pair of attack errors which landed in the net, but a service error by the Lady Lancers capped off the set one win for the visiting Generals.

In set two, it was all EWC.

A pair of aces from sophomore Alexis Trowbridge aided an 8-2 burst early in the set. Freshman Alyssa Parmelee pushed the Lady Lancer lead to 10 at 15-5.

Sims and Prezulj capped off the set winning with back-to-back kills.

In the third set, it looked as if EWC was going to run away with.

Three straight aces from Volz made the score 18-9 before Sheridan chipped away at the deficit, tying the set at 24. An attack error handed the Lady Lancers a 27-25 win.

In the fourth set, EWC jumped out to a 6-1 lead and cruised to the set and match win.

Przulj led the team with 15 kills, while Parmelee added 10 and Betham nine. Trowbridge dished out 20 assists, while freshman J’Adore Hayes tallied 19 digs. Feierabend led the team with five assisted blocks.
