SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancers dropped their seventh straight match Wednesday night.

It was also the sixth straight loss in straight sets.

In the first set, the No. 11-ranked Western Nebraska Community College jumped out to an 8-1 advantage en route to a 25-11, 25-23, 25-22 victory.

However, in the final two sets, it was a much different story for the Lady Lancers.

The teams found themselves tied on 11 occasions and swapped the lead six times over the final two sets.

EWC forced a number of errors by the Lady Cougars, handing the visitors 13-9 lead.

Following a WNCC timeout, the Lady Cougars responded with an 8-0 run to take their first lead of the set.

The Lady Lancers weren’t going to go away, though.

An attack error followed by a serving ace by EWC’s Mallori Campbell put the visitors back in front 20-19.

The set remained tied until WNCC scored the final two points of the set.

The third set was much like the second as EWC jumped out to an early 7-4 advantage behind back-to-back aces from Kelcy Strohschein.

Western Nebraska responded with a 6-2 run to take an 10-9 lead.

It was a lead the Lady Cougars never surrendered for the remainder of the game despite the Lady Lancers tying the game on the next point.

For the remainder of the game, EWC never allowed WNCC to get a lead larger than 23-20 in the final set.

No stats were available at press time.

EWC also lost to Northeastern Junior College 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-21) on Friday, Aug. 30.

Dawson Sharman led the Lady Lancers with 11 kills, while Lissette Lefforge added six.

Defensively, Sage Martin tallied a team-high three blocks, while Nadia Montalban El-Hiriche recorded 11 digs.

The Lady Lancers (1-7) hosts North Platte Community College at 3 p.m. and Western Nebraska Community College at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
