Lady Doggers sweep NCHS

LINGLE – In their only match of the week, the Lingle-Fort Laramie High School volleyball team breezed past the Niobrara County High School Lady Tigers in straight sets last Thursday.

The Lady Doggers raced out to an 8-2 lead behind a pair of serving aces from freshman Skyla Wunder en route to a 25-14, 25-13, 25-11 victory.

Over the course of the three sets, LFL never trailed to Niobrara County.

In the second set, the Lady Doggers scored six of the first seven points, while in the third, they jumped out to a 5-1 advantage.

Senior Baylee Skinner capped off the match with an ace. It was one of two aces for Skinner in the set.

The Lingle offensive attack was led by junior Natalie Speckner, Wunder and senior Kamryn Rafferty with 10 kills each. Sophomore Brenly Shipp added eight. Wunder and Shipp led the team with three aces apiece. Junior Leah Foster dished out 25 assists, while Wunder had 19.

The Lady Doggers (12-9 overall and 3-1 in the 2A Southeast Quadrant) are back in action at home on Friday, Oct. 14 against Pine Bluffs (7-14 and 2-2). First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
